Congrats! You’re engaged!

I am so excited for you during this time. I love being a resource for my clients so I thought I would write up some tips that I have learned when planning my own wedding.

Boston and I got engaged on December 5th and finished planning our whole wedding in about a month! We will be getting married on July 10th!

Make a new email to use for all wedding correspondence and registries. This will make it so much easier when sifting through your inbox. Everything will be in the same place!

I absolutely love TheKnot! I was able to set up a free custom wedding website, have all of my registries linked, allow guests to rsvp online, and put all of the location/travel information in one convenient place!

The fun part begins! It’s never too early to start putting your registry together. Some of my favorite stores to register at are: Target, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Amazon.

Probably one of the most important aspects of wedding planning is your budget. Budgets can definitely change over time and there are a lot of hidden costs that you might not think about when initially figuring everything out! Make sure you talk about what your “must haves” are and get an accurate understanding of what those vendors/decor items/florals cost. In my opinion, the most important vendors to have are an amazing photographer and a talented florist. With those two vendors everything will look amazing!

What season are you hoping for? Keep in mind that Fall dates tend to book up first so if you’re hoping for that season it’s best to start as soon as possible. Venue hunting can be difficult especially nowadays. Try looking into non-conventional venues to keep the cost down and hopefully not run into any booking issues. Non-conventional venues: Town Halls, Backyards, Local Parks, Warehouse Buildings, Veterans Halls, etc.

Start looking into the vendors that fit the vision you have for your day. Reaching out sooner than later will give you a better idea of what your budget should look like for each vendor and which dates are booking up faster than others. I send out a list of my favorite vendors to all of my clients which will hopefully help you with your planning!

One of my favorite parts of wedding planning was planning all of the fun details and colors. I recommend starting to pin dream wedding photos and then narrowing down which design aspects, colors, styles, dresses you are drawn to. Here is my wedding board for you to get an idea of how to organize your own board!
